The restaurant specializes in home cooked foods ranging from fried pork chops, baked chicken, and salmon croquettes to collards, butterbeans, and devilled eggs. Selections vary daily, but the standards like fried chicken and macaroni and cheese are always there. Diners can eat inside the restaurant or take meals to go. Plate choices include meat and vegetable combos or the buffet option. Parking is beside the restaurant on a side street, but there are a couple of handicapped spots directly in front.
Wow. That's what I am talking about. Everything was perfect. Super Nice folks and Super Fine Soul Food. Fried Pork chop was perfect and the fried chicken livers were tender. Wonderful must eat here place if you love southern soul food.
My wife and I were in Athens at lunch time and looking for a nice place to eat. We were driving around when she saw this little establishment on a corner. Be advised that parking is only available on a side street (perhaps a handicap spot or 2 in front). We went in and got a couple of vegetable plates with tea. It's self-service buffet. The food was good, the prices reasonable, and the people both friendly and helpful.
Whenever I am in Athens, I make it a stop at Food for the Soul. Their fried chicken and mac and cheese is the best I have ever had. I hope they publish a cook book
Food is so good here. Still home made. Eat here while you can. Places like this are few and far betweenFood: 5/5
