How bad can it be?” The best pommes soufflé I’ve EVER had, masquerading as chips; brilliant moules mariniere; tasty gardiane stew. Charming service. Fair prices. Largely local customers, who clearly know a thing or two about eating. Definitely revisiting next time I’m in the area.
We ate here for a couple of evenings while staying nearby. The atmosphere was a little bit canteeny, but we were able to order at 9.30pm after travelling all day which was much needed. Our first stop we had pizza pretty much run of the mill for the area, but better than most in the UK! Another night we had the bream and the beef stew both very nice and more within our budget than anything we saw on other menus (11 12 Euro eating out in the Camarge is not cheap! . The proprietor was very friendly and accommodating and put up with our pigeon French! Sadly only open at weekends at the end of September, otherwise we would have gone back later in the week.
A bar, restaurant-like, smoke shop where al the locals meet at different time of the day to inquire about the bulls, the level of water in the ricefields etc. If they have the Tellines ask for them, delicious light tender local shells...
The reception is courteous and professional but we unfortunately fell a day when the restaurant was very busy with Italian tourists whose sound volume was around that of an airbus A347 at takeoff (they even speak by eating )!Even though simple but good dishes we rained will return a quieter day!
We are at the end of winter and this Sunday the weather is splendid. To the beaches, including the holy husbands of the sea, there will be crowds. restaurants inside the camargue are not so many, or they are closed, or they are overbooked by this day of the first sun ray for weeks. then there remains the agachon, very practical, quite large and affordable. staff has been very welcoming and well listened to customers. On the menu, there is a cruel lack of originality. I had a very tender red meat - bravo! but for my wife a dry and too cooked fish. here the framework requires a little modernization. This is a well-located restaurant that has assets but should improve.... we are in the 19th century and more in the 1970s! address to be retained but only in troubleshooting when all others are closed or overbooked.
