Contribuiți la feedbackI used to come here a lot with my family but the restaurant has turned very subpar. The food is overly oily yet bland at the same time. They blatantly cheat you on seafood quantity- they overcharge by 2-3 pounds per item and overcook everything. Normally, places overcharge by about 0.5-1 pound which is somewhat acceptable depending on who you ask. I understand they need to make money but at least be reasonable... I know all Chinese restaurants get slack about poor service, but this place is next level, especially the manager (Ah Wah) who was trying to pin the blame on someone else and became argumentative and defensive.
Waiters are very attentive and friendly. The food we ordered are delicious and need not wait for long time. Have been patronizing them quite regularly
Tong Tak House is a traditional Cantonese seafood and dim sum restaurant with distinctly purple chairs in a spacious dining room. It offered a simple menu of classic steamed, baked, and fried dim sum dishes, and I started with the Shrimp Dumplings, but the rice flour skin was soggy and broke apart immediately. The Steamed Sticky Rice with Abalone was made with sticky rice and chicken wrapped in a lotus leaf package and steamed, but the dish had only a tiny amount of the coveted abalone. The Cantonese Sponge Cake (malagao) was sweet, dense, yet light at the same time; the filling of the Steamed BBQ Pork Bun was on the fatty side; and the Cold Jellyfish was marinated in chili oil and made for a crunchy, refreshing appetizer. But my two favorite dishes were the Purple Yam Bun, which contained a purple yam filling and was shaped/colored to look like a sweet potato on the outside; and the Salted Egg Yolk Bun, which were three round, black buns with a salted egg yolk lava filling. Overall, the dim sum here was decent for what it was, though the quality of some of the dishes were only average.
Would give it 0 stars if possible. The food was room temperature. Nothing was served hot. Everything tastes average. When you let the staff know about the cold food that was just served by them they will argue with you and give you attitude. They even roll their eyes at you. Never coming back again.
Very solid and reliable dim sum. Never overly crowded and staff is nice and efficient. Overall, most of the food was on the less salty side which is a good thing. Egg tarts were delicious especially if eaten fresh; crunchy and thick pastry layer Pineapple Bun w/ Egg Yolk absolutely delicious; a must have Pork Siu Mai a very classic siu mai; big and plump and juicy; very good Pineapple Bun not bad, but it continues the recent trend of sticking a piece of actual pineapple inside; yes, it 's called a pineapple bun but traditionally, there should not be any pineapple inside at all! (personal preference, obviously; you 'll really like it if you 're a fan of pineapple). Dried Scallop Egg White Fried Rice this dish came out very bland; there was no flavor. The restaurant overall is on the less salty side, which is much better than everything being over salted, but this fried rice had no flavor; I have gotten it in the past though so I 'll chalk this one up as a fluke experience Daikon Radish XO Sauce very delicious dish, especially when it first comes out because there is a slight crunch to the outside texture Pan Fried Pork Buns different than the popular Shanghainese ones; this one is flatter, but it 's nicely crisped on the top and bottom, and quite good
