Gumbo House - Anchorage

I ordered a Fried Chicken Po Boy with potato salad online and unfortunately received a shrimp Po boy with no potato salad. it was still delicious though! and I'm sure I would've gotten what I wanted if I made a complaint. just be careful with onlineordering : try calling instead. otherwise the in-person staff is awesome and helpful

Yikes! First time trying to eat inside Gumbo House, it was filled with flies which didn?t bode well but we ordered anyways. Waitress brought the below soda covered in mold that she pulled from a drink cooler. When we pointed out the mold sheessentially waived it off and made an excuse. We canceled our order and left immediately. If a can is that covered in mold andthe dining room is filled with flies, what the hell does the kitchen look like!?

I ordered the blackened chicken po boy, jambalaya and ceasar salad. The jambalaya was my favorite part of my meal but the po boy and the homemade Ceasar dressing are really good too. Friendly and fast service with a fun atmosphere.

Nice little restaurant with very good food. Some items were a bit on pricey side for what you get. Staff was very friendly and personable. Definitely try out the gumbo, I know I'll be getting that again

I'm from New Orleans but am in Anchorage frequently. As such I never bothered with The Gumbo Shop. A big mistake. Their food is excellent and from this point forward I will be a regular. Great vibe and wonderful food.
