Benji's Bakery Cafe - Anchorage

My hubby and I checked out this bakery drink shop off of Dimond. Great location with lots of shopping around. Drinks are delicous, and baked goods are a definate must have experience for all!

Just got a boba slush and was disappointed. I really wanted to like and enjoy my boba but unfortunately I couldn’t. While the flavor of my drink was ok and tasty enough, I couldn’t get over with how bad the boba pearls were. Almost all of them were half cooked and the ones that weren’t more than likely over cooked at least that’s what I’m hoping that’s the reason as to why they couldn’t even fit up the straw. I couldn’t finish my boba unfortunately and had to end up getting rid of it.

I only found this gem because I was looking for a boba tea fix, and now it's my favorite place around for a quick lunch. The grilled pork bahn mi is my favorite the lemongrass pork is incredibly flavorful and complimented by the fresh crunchy veggies on fresh bread. The cruffins and other pastries are fun and delicious as well.

Started frequenting Benji’s because of the taro milk tea with boba. Their pastries are tasty every time. However, I’ve learned that the taste of the milk tea is not consistent and fluctuates between tasting like a hint of vanilla, which is delicious, or tasting like popcorn. They are also frequently out of boba. Usually we get told prior to paying if that is the case and can just avoid ordering the drink since it tastes different without boba, but this time we simply found out upon receiving our drinks, and it was made a slush rather try than with ice (not sure why as that was not what was ordered).So if going for the pastries, get there early enough they still have some but not too early that they aren’t even made yet (once had to wait 1 hour+ after opening). If you get some, guarantee they’ll be good. Same for their sandwiches…As for drinks, good luck. In my experience it’ll either be your favorite drink or one you throw away.

Called in an order for a Bahn mi and they asked when I would be there, I said five minutes and the young lady say “perfect” in kind of a weird way. I now know why, my bahn mi was clearly intended for another customer and abandoned as I showed up about 3 minutes later to a soggy as a mofo sandwhich in wet bag.
