Formosa Chinese - Amherst

We had a lovely lunch today at Formosa. The city was bustling with students and elders during the weekend, but Formosa offered us a delightful escape with their delicious hotpot. The interior is very charming, with simple decor, high ceilings, and plenty of natural light streaming in through the large windows. The restaurant is peaceful and the staff is friendly. They source many of their ingredients locally, including vegetables and mushrooms from their own farm. You can taste the freshness in their dishes. The desserts are light and crispy, and the mushrooms are rich and flavorful. They do not use MSG, so you get clean flavors without feeling thirsty afterwards. This is a great spot for vegetarians and vegans, with a dedicated section of the menu featuring a wide selection of sweets and tofu dishes. There are also vegan options available throughout the menu. The servers are knowledgeable and willing to help, so don't hesitate to ask questions. We particularly enjoyed the nian gao (rice cake) and a noodle soup.

Highly recommend Formosa for a satisfying and healthy dining experience.

The appetizers were delicious, especially the small pancakes and rolls. The pansuppenknödel were also tasty. While the main course didn't quite live up to the appetizers, it was still good. The service was nice and the restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere.

I have never experienced better service in my life! If my water was ever low, it was promptly refilled. My food arrived within five minutes of ordering. The server was very polite and checked on me several times. The food was also fantastic and I would absolutely come back again. I highly recommend this restaurant!

One of my favorite restaurants in Amherst! I am vegetarian and have so many possibilities here. The staff is super sweet and makes great recommendations. The Buddha's feast and vegetable dumps are a must. The service is very fast and the restaurant is beautiful.
