Macubana - Ames

The atmosphere is very relaxed, and the food is amazing! You definitely have to try the MacAttack!

I order from this place several times a week, and I always get the same dish: the Hulk Mac with extra pesto. I think they try to accommodate me, but they don’t quite realize how obsessed I am with pesto. However, on July 25th, after asking enough times, they gave me a whole cup of pesto on the side, which was exactly what I wanted. Thank you—I love you! Sincerely, your neighborhood pesto enthusiast.

The experience was quite nice overall. The service was a bit sluggish during the lunch rush, though. The fried plantains were tasty for a small town in Iowa, but they couldn’t quite compare to what you’d find in a major city. On the plus side, the place was clean and had a friendly atmosphere. However, I felt the prices were slightly on the high side for the quality of the food.

The pull pork and chicken sandwich are delicious, and so is the mango smoothie.

Large drink menu. I felt like the food menu was limited. Several kinds of mac and cheese. Over all good experience.
