Brick City Grill - Ames

I eat a lot of salad. it's hard to find a place that has great salads. I ordered the black and blue salate and it was fantastic. the steak was a generous part of philly type steak. every bite had something from everything. one of my top salads ever!

Rated best burger in Ames. I honestly prefer the honey garlic chicken. Crispy sweet and delicious. Hidden gem, the Crab Rangoons and fries.

We were in town for our sons first college visit. We decided to try this place because of its burger reviews. Place is nice and in a nice location. We had the nachos which were good but nothing spectacular. We had the 60/20 burger, Mac cheese burger, and the 4x2 burger with fries. Fries were decent but the burgers were terrible. Over cooked and the sweet sauce they put on it ruined any chance it had of being edible. They have a good selection of food so maybe other menu items better. The advertisement on their site says voted Iowa’s best burger. 5 guys is ten times better!

We visited for lunch while visiting relatives. The pub has a nice atmosphere and is probably a great place to watch a game with all of the large screen TV's. Service was ok and food was fair. Hamburger was way overcooked. Interesting that my wife ordered a chicken sandwich. She told them to hold the bun but would like an extra piece of lettuce to substitute for the bun. The lettuce was small and wilted..nothing special. We were shocked to see that we actually charged for the extra piece of wilted lettuce, especially since we saved them the cost of a bun. This has never happened at any other restaurant and charging for this is beneath most restaurants (not a huge deal but certainly head-scratching). The charge was not much but it was the principle of it. Just an observation...nice newly renovated bar that can accommodate hundreds of people....men's bathroom had one urinal and 1 toilet...I can imaging the back-up here on busy nights. Doesn't seem to be great planning here.

Very disappointing! Staff NOT at all friendly-with the exception of server-Hannah. I am part of the loyalty program so was suppose to get free birthday dinner-DIDN'T. Waited 20-30 minutes with other patrons to order at the bar completely ignored by all staff that walked by-no sorry will be right with you.When they finally did find time for us-no sorry for your wait, no -hi what can I get you. I understand everyone is short staffed but a simple acknowledgement would have be all it would have taken. Food average at best. Had a burger and it was flavorless. I am a pretty easy person to please as I expect very little and to this point had alway enjoyed BCG but I will never be able to convince my husband to go back after this experience.
