Needed a quick simple lunch during a busy day. The sandwich shop is centrally located and sells soups, salads and sandwiches plus the other usual takeaway meals. They have tables if you want to eat in. Friendly service and good prices.

Just the perfect place for a quick bite of delicious home cooked food! The menu has something for everyone and the service is quick and friendly.

Little sand which shop in heat of Albany and York Street. Clean and tidy with tables inside and outside. As it states mainly sandwiches for sale. I ordered a chicken and salad on wholemeal and a latte.I have a theory, if you are a fish and chip shop you just need to make great or fantastic fish and chips! And if you are a sandwich bar you need to make great sandwiches.Unfortunately my sandwich was ordinary, chicken was dry ( over cooked) and in small chunks, I am not sure why people don't slice breasts for sandwiches. The salad was basic being just some lettuce leaves tomatoe and grated carrot. I wasn't offered any seasoning mayo or extras. What's happened to the great Aussie salad sandwich! That's what I was longing for from my high school days! No beetroot onion or cucumber to be seen!And un seasoned. Coffee was hot, but a latte served in a cappuccino cup with too much froth and burnt coffee made it disappointing.I had to chase my request for a GST receipt which was incorrect in the end. That always makes me suspicious and annoyed if it's an avoidance of tax. I would say buy the business and give it a face lift and you would do well as it gets lots of passing trade despite the lack lustre sandwiches.I will try again incase its a bad day.

Just arrived in town & stumbled across this little gem. toasties were perfect as was the coffee. Going back for sure

Attracted by the pavement sandwich board and tempted by the Seafood Chowder Soup deal - we first ventured into Albany Sandwich Bar and Café. This unpretentious little gem has become our default Café.We took well travelled friends who all agreed the burger, sandwich and fish and chip lunch was delicious, just as we had experienced.Their secret weapon is a perfectly brewed cup of tea in a pot, along with the vital additions of jugs of boiling water and milk to create your own moment of bliss. This dedication to tea service is outstanding! We are well travelled and this is a lost art in most places, including Britain! Staff are efficient and friendly - we are always greeted with a smile.Clean and tidy and some reading material if you like. Very centrally located, opposite the Albany Library Complex on York Street.
