At around 7:30 pm, my husband and daughter walked to the restaurant and asked to look at the menu. Unlike the other restaurants in which we ate on the Romantic Road, there were no menus in English and the bartender seemed insulted at the request.. She reluctantly handed them German menus, which for the most part we could read. After all, Schnitzel is schnitzel and bratwurst is bratwurst. At 8:35 we arrived in the restaurant and seated ourselves. In the dining room there was one party finishing and a young man cleared their table periodically. He glance our way about three times but nobody made an attempt to wait on us. Finally at 8:55 we asked, as best we could, if we may see a menu. A waitress came and communicated that the kitchen closed at 9, so no we could not. She might as well have said, "No soup for you!" The busboy said to her with disdain, "And they are Americans". So in the land of wurst, schnitzel, dumplings and spaetzle, on this night, we ended up having to eat fresh at a Subway!
The place is very nice, bit neglected but in good condition overall, perhaps part of the concept ;) the food to my knowledge is 90% organically produced, the breakfast is healthy with eggs, fruit, there's for everyone's taste. The facilities are good, every room in the hotel has a different concepts and overall the experience is excellent, the walls are not noise proof and unfortunately I got a noisy neighbor with problems to sleep so I could hear all night moving stuff, but has nothing to do with hotel it's just pure luck, I absolutely recommend it and I would say a great place to relax and have a great time.
Having arrived in the rain, the beer garden wasn't open but we enjoyed a nice dinner all the same inside. Nice place to sleep at as well.
I visited Schloss Blumenthal to film a wedding in early May. The weather was good so we were able to sit outside and enjoy some local food. Also there are a llamas. I mean how cool is that?! I definitely would go there again if I was in the region!
I was with the first group of people that had the opportunity to stay at the Hotel here and have 3 meals a day for a week. I must say I was in German food heaven and the spirits were flowing wonderfully. The staff was so kind, helpful, and friendly we took up a collection for them at the end of the week. They treated us like royalty and the rooms were each very unique with very modern facilities. The breakfast and drinks lay out in the mornings were some of the best I have had anywhere.
