A woman came in and said he used to have lady helping but she hadn't seen her in a while. She had items she always ordered and was delicious. I ordered vegetables fried rice which was delicious. Shrimp fried rice as well. I left sad and wondered where his family was. I love animals so the cat was cool. I gave him extra money for food and he was the most grateful person. Kept offering water/soda no charge. I said a special prayer for him
Haven't tried much of the menu items yet, but the ones I did try was prepared pretty well. Small family business, all transactions are cash only. Prices are affordable while food portions is within price value. Would recommend to anyone who wishes get authentic dishes. Plenty of parking for different size vehicles.. Few downsides though cash only, B grade, small menu options, and sometimes runs out of ingredients. 3.5 4 stars.
I miss this place. The nice Thai owner will whip up the best pad thai, pad see ew, and combination fried rice you can enjoy in the HD right up in his living room kitchen. I am not in the high desert anymore but I will always miss his cooking. He is a really kindhearted man; his cooking really shows it and always gives us free sodas. Don't be intimidated by the location. His cooking is magical and you will be blown away. It's a simple place and it's pleasant to just show up in his living room and enjoy authentic Thai food. The restaurant is literally like Asian street food but in middle of a California desert. I also miss the cats there. The tuxedo fat cat was really friendly and chill. He will even roll over on the carpet watch you eat : I hope all the cats are doing well; I'm sure they are...there's always food being served heh. I will come again one day.
This is the spot for the combination spicy rice. The owner give you peanuts and a soda while he makes your food.
Unfortunately, the establishment was far from clean. As I looked at the extremely sticky menu, the owner brought my companion and me some random canned beverages—an iced tea and a Hawaiian Punch—which we hadn’t ordered. Given the circumstances, my companion and I quickly decided to place our food order as takeout. However, when I found out that the restaurant only accepted cash, I politely used that as an excuse to leave. Although I was in the mood for Thai food, the unsanitary conditions of the dining room (which resembled the living room of an old house) and the presence of roaming cats made me doubt the cleanliness of the kitchen. I have traveled extensively throughout Thailand and eaten in some very humble places, but I have never encountered a place that felt this dirty. It made me uncomfortable enough to forgo ordering, regardless of how great the food might be. The owner appeared to be genuinely hospitable, and I wish him well. I can only imagine that it’s a tough business to be in. While I’m disappointed that I didn’t get the chance to try the food, my strong concerns about cleanliness—coming from someone who isn’t overly particular about tidiness—overwhelmed my craving.
