A very nice old school traditional place. Time stands still there in a good sense, obviously. I recommend a Mittagsmenu, it's tasty and it's affordable
Down-to-earth restaurant. Some villages would be happy to still have something like that
Really enjoyed lunch here in a typical Swiss pub with great food, the bratwurst and rosti was excellent. very popular and full of locals, good service.
Being on the road the greater part of the year I enjoy going with friends in Zurich to restaurants of the kind Swiss restaurants used to be in the old days. These are in the minority by now and thus for me the most 'exotic ' eating places back home. In this category I would also put the 'Weisses Kreuz ' opposite Stadelhofen railway station, where one can admire early architecture by Santiago Calatrava. This restaurant must not be confounded with the restaurant 'Zum Weissen Kreuz ' a bit further up towards the old town. There are most of the classical Swiss menus available here, but also some, which can be considered as traditional 'International Swiss classical menus ' like Hungarian Gulash or Riz Casimir. As starters they also have 'Escargots ' (by now bred, not wild anymore), served in a special 'Escargotière ' (Snail Pan) for either 6 or 12 snails, which are covered in a herb-garlic-butter-sauce. We tried them, they were excellent. There is also a good choice of wines. We just ordered the wine, which had been standing on our table, a Valpolicella. All in all we liked best the food, second the atmosphere and last the service, which was correct, but uninspired, mainly just doing the job.
