The Dolder Grand - Zürich

Our six course dinner (not counting the numerous complementary amuse-bouches) with a visual and gustatory delight. The Asian-inspired nouvelle cuisine is an unforgettable experience. You can choose between six or eight course meals, either non-vegetarian or vegetarian. Optional vine pairing. Highly professional staff.

We had the 10 course dinner paired wines. We thoroughly enjoyed the 4 hours we spent there. Every course as well as the amuse bouche were incredible, both in taste and in looks. The plates themselves were boring (all white) compared to what we've seen elsewhere but that's probably by design: so we focus on the food itself. The pace was also great throughout the dinner. The wine pairing is really expensive (more expensive than the meal itself) which is a bit outrageaous, but we'd say at least half the wines really were fantastic extensions of the corresponding food, which isn't always the case (sometimes it's just a nice pairing, but not really that magical chemistry), so we'd recommend it. If you'd like to save and don't want to be too drunk at the end of the meal or throw away half the wine, you can ask to share one wine pairing for 2. Probably an outrageous thing to do, but we resent paying and then throwing away so much good wine so this arrangement works great for us.

Sehr netter Empfang, wunderschöne Aussicht, überall Kunst zum Bestaunen, toller Zimmerservice, aber entgegen der uns gegebenen Info, konnten wir das Licht über das IPad nicht dimmen, auch der Hauptschalter gilt nicht für alle Lichtquellen. Radio kann man nur im Bad empfangen, aber man hat die Möglichkeit ein Bluetooth Speaker auszuleihen. Das Essen ist sehr schön angerichtet und man kann zwischen regionaler und fancy Küche variieren, aber auch hier war der Champagnerrisotto zu stark gewürzt, hingegen der Oktopus zu wenig. Das Hotel bietet einen Shuttelservice an, den man am besten frühzeitig aufsucht, denn trotz meiner Pünktlichkeit war der Fahrer auf einmal weg. Das Spa lässt nichts zu Wünschen übrig, auch hier hat man eine wunderschöne Kulisse von Zürich, einen Aussenwhirlpool mit Blick auf den Zürisee, eine finnische Sauna, ein Dampfbad, ein Solarium und man kann unterschiedliche Wellnessanwendungen buchen, aber auch hier sollte man am besten schon reservieren.

Ausgezeichnetes Hotel mit gut eingerichteter Lobby und geräumigen Gästezimmern. Der Service war lecker und preisgünstif. Würde definitiv meine erste Wahl in Zürich.
