We arrived in the restaurant for our Christmass dinner. The waiter was so extremely arrogant and unfriendly right from the start. We were designated to a table and we were not allowed to sit in the lounge area. The food came from Tschingg below and was decent. The table was set for 8 people - we were only 7 BUT on the bill we were charged for 8!!!!!I personally have never been treated so badly in any Zurich restaurant before. They do not accept American Express, then we tried to pay with a thousand franc bill (cash) and they didn't accept that as well. Absolutely disgusting service (the waiter only spoke Italian) Awful- Never again
Location is good, ok. Nevertheless the drinks are too expensive. Atmosphere is nice especially at the window (avoid the plastic table/seats, very unstable). Charming.
After a long day of walking around the city of Zurich, my family stopped at Bellavista to take a break. While I cannot say anything about the food there (since we only ordered drinks), I thought they drinks were alright; nothing particularly special about them, but not awful either. The hot chocolate I had was 'self serve' by that I was given a cup full of warm frothy milk and a packet of instant hot chocolate powder to pour to my liking. So while my drink was not outrageously good or anything I can say that Bellavista are choosing to serve the right instant chocolate powder to their customers! The price for my instant hot chocolate was quite pricey but then again everything in Zurich is much more expensive than anywhere else.
I made a few stops at this place as I was wandering all around the city by myself over a weekend. It's comfortable --especially if you're able to get a seat on the mezzanine-- and the service is very friendly. I needed to charge my phone, so the nice bartender went out of her way to find an adapter and an outlet I could avail myself of.I had a cappuccino, which was perfectly foamy with just the right amount of espresso in it. I also had an apple cake, which was one of the best I've had, and this comes from a man who lived in Vienna and had as much apple cake in that city as any reasonable human being could ever have. It was just sitting on the counter, but it tasted fresh. On another occasion, I had another cake (it involved peach, I believe), also very good, and a chardonnay. They give you a pretzel mix with the wine.Prices are what prices will be in Switzerland, but it wasn't outrageous -- considering.I very much enjoyed being able to sit down, relax, take my time, recharge my phone, and have a drink and a snack at this place. There's nothing special about it, yet it simply works.
