The menu was typical Austrian which I liked unfortunately what was served up was as far from typical of the country. My own Baurenschmause was just about acceptable but the rindsgulash was an utter disgrace at approx. £14 per person for my wife and sister...in law. The meat was beef shin which is not a problem if cooked long enough but it was not in this case which meant it could simply not be chewed through as it was as tough as leather. The sauce which ought to have been flavoursome was bland in the extreme. On complaining we were told this is how it is done in Austria a complete lie. Then it was the fault of the kitchen and then without an apology the waiter disappeared until we were about to leave in order to get the bill paid. My advice is do not eat here and beware the word Kaltschmidt which is plastered on various hotels across the town
We had lunch on this really beautiful place with a typical traditional style and a very good quality of eating. friendly service, perfect menu and place. thanks for the good service
First dinner in Seefeld. Front rooms do not have music'. Back rooms do, we unsuspectingly choose the back rooms. One man band singing cover versions of old pop songs. Not top tier, but jolly and people were dancing. Good range of Austrian food and good...prices. Service was haphazard and a bit slow. There one minute and then gone. Enjoyed the food. Able to pay by credit card.
Went to the Batzenhäusl with my mom when visiting the famous Seefeld Schneefest, which is a must-see if you are in the area. The place is close to the village center and looks like any of the cosy, old-style Tyrolean places up and down the...pedestrian zone. Since it was the middle of the skiing season in January, the place was packed with tourists (no surprise here) and the live music was certainly matching the crowd... What I really couldn't accept was the quality of the meals. We both had something deep-fried (one Cordon Bleu, one Backhendlsalat) and, while the meat was OK, the breading smelled and tasted so fishy that one wonders when they last changed their frying oil.
