Wonderful food. before all the filet medici should not be missed. the gast feels very welcome here. nice chefin and very nice staff.
The restaurant la ferme in the lowest floor of the hotel excelsior offers a beautiful and warm ambiente. the service is perfect and also the wine selection leaves no wish for local products. not only the spectacular preparation puts you in a jam, but also the quality and taste of the butter-species filets. Whoever ate it will order it again and again.
You feel welcome and personally supervised by the chefin. especially the filet medici is a dream. at the table lovingly prepared and flambit. the sauce is tasted by the gast is matched to the wish. the ground is a tight. a stay in cermatt without filet medici im excelsior would be half as beautiful! also the remaining menu is not to be despised and the wine card is affordable. we're always coming.
Arrived in Zermatt late afternoon on the 10th Aug and as I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant I have been particularly careful when deciding where to eat, hence we reviewed lots of restaurant menus before opting for La Ferme. Both mine and my husband's meals were distinctly average, and not worth the money. Luckily my meal (grilled chicken) was ok but my husband (had the set menu - salad, fish with rice and ice cream) woke up at 04.00 with stomach cramps and being violently sick. Our day in Zermatt has been completely written off, and he's spent the entire day in bed being sick, with diarrhoea, chills, temperature and general weakness. I went to the restaurant to make them aware of the situation but the manager was extremely rude and didn't want to know. I appreciate that it's difficult to pin-point food poisoning but given we ate the same until our evening meal, then I find it hard to believe it's from anywhere else. He also isn't projectile vomiting and is unlikely to be the norovirus given the time of year, despite what the manager would want you to believe.
