So my advice - go to jagerstube !! Its relatively new and gas a great location with a sunny terrace and great views up to the matterhorn.
Small hamlet typical of the high Valais with a traditional restaurant with good dishes/products. In short, a good purpose of hiking to get out of the basic tourist classics.
The sun terrace of the jägerstube offers magnificent view of the matthorn and a small map with regional and Italian decor. my companion had penne "aum aum," the were al dente and well seasoned on tomatensosse with olive and mozzarella (17 chf.) I had a large salad plate (12 chf) with various fresh salads, egg and cheese pieces on fine dressing. a light red, light glass wein (dôle from the region, 6 chf.) the homemade cake was sold out at our order unfortunately, but looked sinfully delicious. the gastronomy is original and cozy, for example for fondue in winter, and the hostes are authentic and cordial. a Greek service aid serves cheerful, multilingual and attentive. The restaurant is idyllic in the hamlet, about an hour away from distrust. about 20 ancient wooden houses are pushing around a white carpal here. the food and the atmosphere were excellent. we're coming back!
After a nice walk up to zmutt from zermatt we enjoyed a glass of apfelpunch and gluhwein which was very good ! seating bott indoor and outdoor. Friendly staff.
We found ourselves here one day when the ski lifts all closed due to wind at altitude, but the weather in the sheltered valley around Zmutt was pleasant. It is possible to do a circular walk from Zermatt via Furi to Zmutt, then directly back to Zermatt - allow a couple of hours. Being well away from the ski area and not accessible by downhill skiing, Zmutt is quiet in winter, and the restaurant was warm and welcoming. Good for a hot chocolate stop, or for a more substantial meal.
