The ketchup packs they gave me were a little sticky. It was a nice note to be... given vinegar that I didn't have for a while. Next time I want to try the rings or poutins. I look forward to eating because they are still closed because of COVID. Friendly staff too!
We often visit this restaurant and have gone since its opening. The staff is great; the burgers are exceptional. There are a number of delicious options (of burgers) and fries (the Greek fries are delicious). It is a small family-style restaurant, without accusations. Just delicious burgers.
Certainly Zeal is the best burger place in the GTA. I've been to a lot of people, some of them have dried my socks, but not as total as this place. If you love a good burger, you understand what a smash patty is, then you really need to come here and try a double with cheese and bacon. I had the mushroom Melt here tonight and my only wish is that I had made it a double. Patty was so good. You take a ball of freshly ground AAA beef, put it on the grill, salt and pepper and crush it flat with a spatula. Then they let it sit on the hot grill until the floor is as close to the burning as you want, as soon as it gets bitter, but with a whole lot of cripples. Then they make the same as the flip side. So why the four stars? Your fries. We ordered the poutine. Most places get their poutins wrong in two places, with the wrong cheese (i.e. not with curds) or with the severity not thick enough (Costco) or simply not hot enough to melt the curls. The poutins were bitter. They had overcooked them to the point of impossibility. The gravure and the Kurds did a little for it, but I threw half the order away. Just to test my theory, I ordered a small order of pommes and safe enough, they were also bitter. When I talked to the cook, he told me that they'd blanch the raw pommes for 7 minutes. I guess there's plenty of water in them when they go to the oil first. For the dish, potatoes must be freshly cut into frits and then in water to remove the starch. You must have dried THOROUGHLY. Then they go 5 7 minutes into a 325 degree oil. They can then be stored for longer in the room or in the refrigerator. When they had time to rest, they go into a 375 degrees oil for 2 3 minutes to golden brown, not dark brown. This makes the best pommes I've ever had and should begin to improve Zeal's pommes they'd get the fifth star of me. When Fries are done, they're like crack, they just disappear as fast as I can do. If you find yourself in this area, you should go for a burger. The next time I go there, I'll get her to recreate a Wendy's Triple as they used to be, not the **** Wendy sold today, but I'm degressing. Zeal is a burger joint and they are characterized by it.
We were with my son and had her EH-burger. It tasted great and the fried egg was perfectly cooked with the right amount of runny yolk. The poutin he had was excellent. The staff also took care of the handling of the customers. Do not let the exterior and interior look fool you. If you are in the mood for a good Burger and Pommes, the place is fantastic. If you want to take something home, consider the cook poutine that is microwave compared to the burger-backs that are not.
Traveling with a hungry hockey team, found this nearby. We were a little apprehensive on the location busy street and quite a variety of people walking around. However, the burgers are awesome with plenty of topping options. Fries are amazing and they have vinegar...and ketchup on the table to dip. Everything is made to order, fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend!
