The School Restaurant - York

I have been here a few times and I'm always happy. The food is really good and the service is exceptional. I love when they have someone playing the piano during dinner. It adds to the unique atmosphere. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

The food was excellent and the staff is very polite, friendly and professional. We had lobster bisque, lamb chops and crepe suzette which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Service overall was good , Servers friendly , professional, Food not worth for the value . I had Roasted red Pepper Soup , did not taste much pepper , more felt like Campbell Tomato soup . I had Greek salad drenched with Feta chees & dressing , it was cut in very small chunks , has barely any leaves in the salad . Again small portion , not worth what I paid . I noticed all the food my friends ordered , their plates felt bare in terms of the vegetables , potato , rice extra , very small portion . Over all I felt it was not worth the money being charged for each item . This was my first and the last time . Smell of the cigret became very disturbing for me .

This was our first visit to this restaurant to celebrate our 30th anniversary. The restaurant is open and airy, with high ceiling and plenty of windows letting the light in. The service was polite, friendly and a little reserved. In a way, we felt like we were in a time warp with the style of service and the menu. My wife had Coquille St. Jacques as an appetizer and remarked that she hadn't seen it on a menu in a long time. We used to like it when we were dating. I had the Tuna Carpaccio which was well done, but not exciting. We both had steaks for the main course and they were delicious, as was the after dinner coffee. The wine list was pretty ordinary, and did not mention the vintage. We had Lohr Seven Oaks Cab which was $62 ($24 at LCBO). I also noticed that while the tripadvisor menu was accurate with respect to the items on the menu, prices were in fact about 20% higher.

Well this restaurant is for special occasions as it is quite pricey. I always have the Prime rib and it is amazing !! My partner had the stuffed chicken which he thought was wonderful.
