Sofra Mediterranean Cuisine - York

My search for a unique Mediterranean dining experience led me to Sofra. The restaurant boasts a pleasant ambiance and friendly staff. I was pleasantly surprised by the option to try red eggplant gravy in a falafel sandwich, as well as green eggplant. The cold appetizers offered a new and delicious twist to accompany the falafel sandwich. We opted for the sandwich on laffa bread, which was not only authentic but also generously sized. By the end of the meal, I was completely satisfied and a single sandwich was more than enough for a filling lunch or dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Sofra and highly recommend it.

Knowing that the portions are generous, we skipped ordering an appetizer. Our meals came with a side salad, which was a tasty mix of lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and grated carrot with a light and foamy dressing with a hint of citrus. My dining companion chose the Chicken Schnitzel with a side upgrade to Sweet Potato Fries. The schnitzel was large, made from a breaded and deep-fried chicken breast sprinkled with sesame seeds. It was tender and crunchy, perfect for a hearty appetite. I helped finish it. I went for the Falafel Plate with Grilled Vegetables on the side. The garlic on the vegetables was heavy, just the way I like it. The six falafel balls were excellent, with a crispy exterior, soft interior, and great flavor. Our server was attentive, checking on us regularly and refilling our water without prompting.

We ordered takeout and loved the food! The servings were large, not too salty, and the meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. We had the beef skewers with garlic potatoes (which were perfectly roasted and very garlicky) and the chicken shawarma dinner with sweet potato fries. The house salad with a thick but tasty dressing was also delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The Mediterranean food at this restaurant is genuine and always of good quality. The prices are a bit high and the portions are on the smaller side. However, the lamb skewers were tasty and moist. My daughter particularly enjoyed the potatoes. This is a great spot for a fast meal.

I ordered the chicken skewer dinner and the chicken was perfectly juicy (not overcooked). The house salad dressing is a must-try and the hummus is probably the best I've ever had. I would definitely return to this restaurant.
