My husband enjoyed the Steak and Frites, with excellent Pommes in a generous portion. I had the salmon, which was slightly overcooked but still tasty. The wine and beer selection was excellent. Overall, a great experience dining here.
My family has the afternoon tea in Dalvay as a benchmark standard for similar culinary experiences in the U.S. and U.K. Perhaps these years can experience up to the COVID break in so many problems that have plagued the journey and tourism industry. My friend and I sat and offered a selection of teas. So good. The tea was good. The waitress said she would return with our 'high tea' trays. I think I was upset at this point because there was no menu. My experience with any high tea service is a selection of tea and scenes with jam and camouflaged cream, or maybe tea and just the pastries offers. There was no menu, no choice. We both received the complete addition of sweet and hearty offers. I am vegetarian and asked if my selection could be changed. I was finished with a bowl of strawberries. The kitchen was adament that it was all they could offer me. Be warned. The baked goods looked to store purchased cookies and tarts. The sandwiches were inconspicuous and even inconspicuous in appearance. My friend took some sandwiches home. You were ham and cheese on a cookie. We think the cookie could have dropped in a hockey game as the crowd Oh Canada sang. Finally, as in the world and who ever thought in the world to offer high tea without scene, dipped cream and jam. What a completely disappointing experience.
Just had a great meal in Dalvay by the sea! At the beginning we were greeted at the entrance of a beautiful young lady who welcomed us! After we passed the heat of the fire in the heart, we sat at a nice table for two in the dining room. The meal was a culinary delight. The lamb (served with a tantalizing barley risotto, peas and beet) was excellent, and it could possibly be for the first place with the Beef Shank, served on a bed of the polnta with an Arugula and Parmessan salad on the side. The food was prepared by chefs John and Tracey, whose plate presentation was above the top. The aromas and textures of the meal were exceptional. This amazing meal was served us professionally by our server Joe. Congratulations to manager Wil Murphy, for strengthening his stellar employees. Karen Smith Boomer Galler
My mom, her partner, my sister and I had a nice lunch on 20. Juli. Our very efficient and friendly waitress was Nadia. My sister had the panner friend Haddock, my mother and her girlfriend both had the Huevos Rancheros and I chose the...Lobster Cobb Salat. It was just great! I left nothing on the plate and it was a very generous part!!!!! We often drove past Dalvay by the sea and finally decided to try this restaurant. We were very happy about it. It was also interesting to go on the first floor after lunch to look at the decor. It reminded me when I worked at the Jasper Park Lodge in the late 70s before it was genetically modified. Sitting under the shaded trees on the Muskoka chairs was also beautiful.
When our tea finally arrived, we were surprised by the lack of variety. The sandwiches consisted of small egg salad and lobster salad sandwiches on mini brioche buns, along with an unidentified cream cheese sandwich. The rest of the food appeared to be frozen and lacking in flavor. We were not offered any water, and our tea strainers had to sit in the saucer as there were no dishes provided. To make matters worse, when the bill arrived, we were shocked to see a total of $149. As patrons who appreciate quality food and service, this was a disappointing experience. We advise others to dine elsewhere on the island, as Dalvay by the Sea failed to live up to its reputation for us.
