The Golden Slipper - York

We visited this place on 31/12/23 and had a pie and mash dinner, it was a home made pie and it was beautiful, great service was also provided, it was so good here we stayed to see the new year in, and listened to the live music, and played games that they provide at the back in a small area of the pub. Great pub great find, will definitely go back again.

Visited here on a busy Saturday in York, we were the second people in the bar and asked for a food menu to be told that food starts at 12.30pm so we said no problem and waited the 20 mins. When 12.30 hit, the bar was pretty full and the bar man laid 3 menus down for the whole pub (excluding our table despite us notifying him that we wanted to buy food). These menus were meant to be shared amongst everyone but we were not told this so by the time we got to order food it was an hour wait. We decided against it and were offered no apology. The older barman with the long hair had a horrible attitude and was truly unpleasant to be served by he should really reassess his customer service skills. Tip for management: print some more menus off.

Fabulous time had with friends. Great pub and lots of singing with friends and met some new friends !

Went for a late lunch at 3 pm. Had the pies. Steak and the chicken and leek. Obviously homemade. They were wonderful, packed with ingredients and flavour. I'm a local resident so will go back again. Wonderful service. Support this wonderful pub!

Extremely surly, very rude woman behind the bar with zero customer service skills ,messed up our order and blamed us , terrible attitude….average food that took forever to arrive , even though the pub was empty ! Nearly choked on long sharp chicken bone in my pie . AVOID !
