Penguin Fish - Wycombe

We were in search of a good Fish and Chips restaurant to dine in and discovered this one on Google. It was a great choice to visit as the fish was cooked perfectly. The bacon burger was also very delicious. My wife tried a steak and kidney pie for the first time and absolutely loved it! Overall, we would rate our experience a 10 out of 10.

I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant. Despite driving all the way from Uxbridge to Marlow after reading a newspaper article praising it as one of the best fish and chips spots in the area, our experience was far from pleasant. The restaurant felt unkempt and the food was subpar. The fish was excessively greasy and thin, with very little actual fish. The chips were equally unappetizing and my husband even remarked that the oil needed to be changed. A regular customer mentioned to the staff that they were struggling due to rising costs, which explained the poor quality of the food. We left most of our meal uneaten and, when we paid £30, the staff didn't even ask about our satisfaction. The fish was oily and thin, with a dark batter, while the chips were stale and discolored. Needless to say, we will not be revisiting this place or any others recommended in the article. We had to buy water and sweets on the way home just to get rid of the taste.

I ordered a saveloy that was very tough and seemed to have been sitting in the heater for quite some time. It was not at all enjoyable. The fish cake was also disappointing and seemed very old. The chips were just average. Overall, I was very disappointed with the experience and would not consider returning.

I popped in for the first time earlier this evening to order a kebab, chips, and drink. When I realised I'd forgotten my purse at home, I offered to go back and fetch it. However, the kind staff insisted that I enjoy my dinner first, and drop off the money at a later date. I was really touched. I managed to pay them by bank transfer when I got home and sat down to my delicious meal. I ordered a medium, but the portion was so generous I could't finish it all! Absolutely delicious, lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, and really kind and generous staff. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

Top notch food cooked to.order, very generous portions and at a reasonable cost. Visited here twice during out trip up the Thames as it was that good. The first time they Said they didn 't do scraps but the the second time they went the extra mile. Won 't hesitate to visit again next time we 're in the area. Highly recommended.
