Good value, friendly service and butcombe original!

Good, medium sized Sunday roast. Meat was in order. gravy wasn't home. 3 small kartoffels. spongy cauliflower. service was friendly but a bit slow. beautiful interieur and building. could be a great pub.

A quiet evening for the plow, but eating was good as usual and the service super. booked for next week.

My wife and I celebrated our high-time anniversary and the catering manager plus her personal unexpectedly made a real upswing of us and we had a nice evening. many thanks for you

I made the booking based on the website menu which looked interesting as my previous visit during lockdown had been a disaster and I hadn't been back since. The pub and restaurant were busy when I arrived at 7.15pm but I was surprised after being handed the menu that there were only five main course choices. I was told at once that one of them wasn't available. Ten minutes later I was told that another (my choice at that moment) was now not available leaving a choice between a pie, a burger and a vegan salad. The salad was a lacklustre pile of leaves with root vegetables, minus the tasty seeds listed in the description and which I wouldn't have served to guests in my own home. The only saving grace of the evening was the waitress who did her best to keep two unhappy customers from walking out. She said the website must have been the previous owner's and the present owners had only been operating for three weeks. Let's hope they can do better than this in the future because we won't be going back for a while now, Such a shame as this used to be my favourite restaurant in the area.
