I had the open faced steak sandwich with fries, topped with mushrooms and onions on top of a garlic bread. I don't think I will get it again only because the steak was hard to eat with the thick piece of bread too. Ended up just eating it by itself. My husband and son enjoyed their cheeseburger and potato skins.
Great service... good drink... soup of the day Monday was good
It was pretty quiet on the Monday night I visited and sat at the bar. The bar staff were very attentive and the service was very prompt. The popcorn as a snack before dinner was cool, and so was the beer. The chowder needed s bit of s kick with Tabasco, but that's the way I like it. The rest of the dinner, I had fish, clam, and shrimp combo, was really good just how I liked it, although I'm trying to figure out why it included single chicken tender Oh well, that was good too.
Usually I don't have any issues at all and the service is always great, friendly and fast. However, the last time we got take-out, the portions were horribly small and I feel like we overpaid! I got tips and tenders and literally got 3 small overcooked tips and 3 skinny tenders with a spoonful of fries. Other than that I've always enjoyed the food whether we eat in or take-out. This won't keep me from dining there in the future or recommending the 99 to anyone else but I just wanted to throw that out there.
There are three reasons that I go to restaurants. Food, atmosphere, service. At this restaurant the food deserves a A plus and the atmosphere deserves a b but the service. With the waitress I had I felt a lot of prejudice in the air and in the way she presented herself. I hated the first day because of the way the waitress was acting and the manager who noticed how she was acting came nearby with his head turned away from me as if he did not want to respond to the way she was acting. He helped to clean a table right next to mine and never looked over at me so he saw the way she was acting. My wife asked me to leave the restaurant rather than eat there because of the way the waitress acted. I stayed and thank God I did the food was excellent. I returned on the following day just to make sure the food was not a fluke. I ordered something different and the food was just as good as the prior date. Of course when I went in the restaurant I insisted on not being set near the waitress I had the previous day. Again, I give the food and a plus but every restaurant has to consider is existence when there is hiring someone who has their personal feelings on their shoulder. My motto is you can have the greatest food and greatest restaurant and no one will come because they have to face an employee that you will not deal with.
