Two weeks ago, I went there with my fiancé to celebrate our anniversary, as it was where we had our first date a year ago. First, our order got mixed up. I ordered an "ape juice," which took about 15 minutes to arrive, and that was only after I asked about it. My fiancé ordered karaage don but received karaage udon instead. He was willing to try it, but the udon soup was very watered down, likely to cut costs. I ordered karaage with tartar sauce, but it wasn’t the traditional Japanese version. After that experience, we decided we wouldn’t return. However, today I had a craving for sushi and karaage, so I thought I’d give them another try. The tuna sashimi was gritty, and the tartar sauce was different yet again — it tasted like a cheap wine sauce one might find at a supermarket, which was completely inappropriate for fish. The chicken karaage was almost nauseating after just a few pieces; it was extremely oily and seemed to have been cooked in old oil. The portion of the wetar sauce was barely enough to fill the dish, coming in at around half a centimeter below the rim. To make matters worse, my order was placed on the pass without the cook ringing the bell for the waitress, so it sat there for 5 to 10 minutes before she realized it was ready. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, and there was no apology for the delay — it seemed like the cook had simply forgotten. The sushi chef looked bored, leaning against the counter as if he wanted to sleep. I was really disappointed. I tried to use a $10 discount, but it seems they no longer offer that promotion, as I didn’t receive a new card. Based on this experience, I’ve decided not to return. If I hear of new owners or employees in the future, I might consider trying again, but for now, I won’t be back. As a student cook, I feel I could prepare better Japanese cuisine than what they serve. Overall, this place is quickly going downhill and is no longer offering authentic Japanese food. Totally disappointed and a waste of money.
