The texture of the shaved eise was not what I expected! it is very smooth and not like crushed ice or a snow cone. I think it can do the job as replacement for ice with friends or family. I tried the dill pickle ice, which literally shaved ice with pickle juice and a pickle speer! If you like pickles, I would recommend the small size. I have the bigger size and it was a lot of pickle.
