The Rose & Crown - Woodside

Went for lunch with my wife mid week. The pub looks great after refurbishment. We were welcomed and shown to table. The food took far to long to come out. when it did my fish and chips was average and my wifes burger looked like it had been reheated a number of times. From sitting down to leaving that took 1 hour 40 mins. We did tell the waitress the burger was uneatable and they did not charge for that item.They did however charge £5.20 for a pint of orange & lemonade !!I really want to like this place because it looks great.............. so please get your act together as it has great potential.

Great spot to stay if attending events in Swan Valley. Neat spacious rooms close to lots of restaurants and train. Comfy beds/pillows, soft towels. Staff very helpful and good knowledge of local area.

Located in a back lane of Ascot behind Lock Fyne. Reasinable parking for the size of pub restaurant. Good selection and prices. Some meal sizes a little too big which over faces you for desert. Don't suggest you have the creme bulee as it was a shop bought pot with topping. Hmmm spoilt a good meal. Would syggest trying.

I am visiting from the UK and we went here for lunch to celebrate my sisters Birthday. Everything was going great until we were served our mains. We ordered the same Chicken Parmigiana. Mine was perfect. However, my sisters was not just undercooked, it was actually raw. It appeared that it had been breaded and not cooked then the toppings put on and finished off so it appeared to be done when brought out. Obviously it took a couple of tastes before she pulled off the topping to uncover a raw chicken breast. The waitress was shocked and quickly took it away. A few minutes passed and we were asked if we wanted another - well yes! My sister was offered a drink on the house - as she was driving this was a lemonade. When I came to pay the bill and was asked 'how was your meal today' by the same lady that offered us the drink I was amazed that there was no other form of apology. I didn't expect to have to pay for her dinner but was told as we got another that was fine, we should be happy. We got a 6 dollar desert as a gesture as it was her birthday. I was appalled by the lack of concern shown by this restaurant that my sister could have been extremely poorly following this and they just didn't seem to care. I doubt she will return in a hurry.

We enjoyed a fabulous meal here last night with friendly service. It was pretty crowded so probably best to book. The couryard was charming although screeching kids running around wasn't much fun when they kept bumping the table (parents studiously ignoring them) - but the food was great! The breads were excellent with Dukkah and oil: the sweetcorn dip: the rocket salad was very good - perhaps a litlte more blue cheese would have been good? - and the steaks (Sirloin) very good and perfectly cooked. My only criticism was the potato bake wasn't a baked potato like I expected and there wasn't enough asparagus as it was delicious. They also could have done with a more generous serve of the sauce. If they had done all of those things, I would have given 5 stars! The host was a lovely man - very charming indeed and I would definitely recommend this and come back. Lovely evening.
