North China - Woodbourne-Hyde Park

Yesterday, I purchased shrimp fried rice with beef, from North China. I brought home the meal and started to eat it. I pulled out a long strand of hair out of my meal, gross. I called North China and told them about it. I asked for a refund, they refused to give me a refund. I will never purchase food from there again. I will make sure I tell all my family and friends not to eat there.

I love their egg rolls, they are the best I have tasted in all of Dayton.

I was surprised by my carryout order when I got it home. I quickly realized this place was under new management. I was not expecting the chicken dish to be breaded let alone heavily breaded and soaking in some sort of sweet syrup. Szechuan chicken is not breaded and it's definitely not sweet. There were no vegetables. The beef dish was very gristly with lots of the same sweet syrup on it. Garlic beef should taste of garlic and not sweet. The new owners have ruined this place. Unless of course you're one of those people who love everything deep fried and gooey sweet.

I can’t say enough good things about the service at this restaurant. The staff is incredibly accommodating for minor changes and goes the extra mile to ensure guests are happy. Love taking my family here for lunch and dinner, staff are great as always! Lunch is value for your bucks, it comes with fried rice, crab angle and chicken wing. Which are amazing side dishes before you start with your main one. They also have Korean dishes which I’ve tried too which are very good. I usually don’t leave a review but this was a gem spot!

North China use to be good, but with the change of ownership the quality is bad. General Tso's tasted of bread with just a sweet goo on it. Not sure how you can overcook chicken and the only flavor that comes through is the low quality breading, but they did it. Crab Rangoon had next to no filling. Even the fortune cookie didn't come with a fortune, guessing they charge extra for that. This just isn't the North China it use to be. Stay away.
