There are several dining options within the temple complex, but this review focuses on the main Dining Hall (not the Dew Drop Inn Tea House). The atmosphere feels quite institutional. As of October 13, 2019, the prices are $13 for rice and $14 for fried noodles, which also includes four choices of vegetarian Chinese dishes. Most of the protein options consist of imitation meats like BBQ something or 'chicken', and I’ve had better alternatives in Newtown. The vegetable options are limited, and one of the choices was an oily curry. The Kumquat Tea caught my attention, but at $4, it was quite sweet. Overall, it’s acceptable if you’re hungry, but I was expecting better value and more generous portions from a non-profit establishment located away from high-rent areas.
This review pertains to the main kitchen within the temple complex, rather than the Dew Drop Inn tea house. The atmosphere is quite institutional, and as of October 13, 2019, the prices are $13 for rice and $14 for fried noodles, with four vegetarian Chinese options available. The menu primarily features imitation meats, such as some form of BBQ. I've had better alternatives in Newtown. The selection is limited, and there’s also a rather greasy curry option. The kumquat tea was intriguing, but it costs $4 and has a high sugar content. The food is decent if you're hungry, but it doesn't offer the great value and generous portions I anticipated from a non-profit establishment. Overall, it doesn't measure up to the superior options available in other areas.
No meat :D
