Village Tavern (Hanes Mall Blvd) Winston-Salem

VT is always a solid choice for dining. Service is good, food is above average and the ambiance is a little lacking. It’s a safe dining solution

We have dined here many times usually for special occasions as it is a special place. We have never been disappointed

We had reservations and were seated promptly. However, service was very slow. We had a party of We waited about minutes for our food. Ordered baskets of biscuits Sunday brunch . They were cold. Ordered crab dip was served with "greasy toasted" hamburger bun "points" that had been flattened on the grill. in our party ordered chicken and waffles. Waffles were very thin and NOT Belgian at all. AND THE CHICKEN WAS HORRIBLE. TASTED LIKE IT HAD BEEN SOAKED IN DILL PICKLE JUICE. I'm not sure if that was part of a brine that was used OR if Village Tavern has a Fried Pickle Appetizer and the chicken was fried in the same oil as the pickles. The waitress noticed that the chicken was NOT eaten at all, but offered no comment or question as to why other than "do you want a box We didn't bother to ask her about it. Obviously she didn't care. Fries came out cold. Overall, very disappointed with this establishment. It has been good in the past years. But we went recently and had a similar "not so good" experience". This time was far worse and we'll think again before we return. When you pay for brunch, you should get good food and service

Fantastic Sunday brunch. Our reservation was at am and we arrived a few minutes early to be promptly seated. The restaurant filled up quickly, but our service was great as always
