Hickory Tavern - Winston-Salem

Amazing food, fun atmosphere. Delicious upscale food for a Tavern restaurant.

We had an excellent time at Hickory Tavern on Stratford Rd. We particularly enjoyed the covered outdoor patio seating as it was such a pleasant afternoon. We went after church and arrived around 1pm. They were busy but not overly crowded. Our server was a bright, perky lady with a smile every time she was at our table. We never wanted for anything. She took good care of us. I had the smothered chicken with roasted brussel sprouts with a bacon, balsamic glaze. Both were excellent as was the mixed greens and fruit salad served on the side. See the picture. The smothered chicken was tender and juicy and covered in a thick layer of melted cheese with a topping of onion and mushrooms cooked to perfection. My wife preferred to keep her meal to herself, however, it's fair to say she enjoyed hers as much as I did. We've been back to Hickory Tavern several times. We enjoy the laid back atmosphere and the food is good and a good value. Great place to catch the games because there are TVs in every direction! Large selection of local brews on tap and a family friendly restaurant. Well worth checking out!

Good food. Friday night sometimes has live music. My wife accidentally ordered the shrimps and grottos, best mistake ever made. They are good, but heavy (many calories). I had the charred wings, they were good. Almost charred, but good. Don't get the buffalo sauce, it's decent hot, but not the best buffalo flavor. The Caribbean idiot was one of the best I had. Also the sweet potato fries were on the point. The service was impeccable, fantastic servers and very accommodating.

Absolutely fantastic! The food was incredibly delicious. We will definitely be returning.

I'm not usually a fan of chain restaurants, but this place is an exception. The food is top-notch, and everything we've tried has been fantastic. They have an impressive wall of craft beers and plenty of TVs to catch any game you want. Plus, they sometimes showcase some incredibly talented local musicians.
