Contribuiți la feedbackWell deciding what to order for dinner after a long day for the family we opted for VAMOS tacos using the SkipTheDishes app. We were quite excited as we have not heard of this restaurant in Wpg.Unfortunately, it was a waste of money and time. The Enchiladas were very disappointing. Beef is what was ordered instead it was large slices of onions and mushrooms. The description said 'sautéed vegetables' but it failed to list them and it also failed to mention the fact that Beef was not the star of the dish as it was difficult to actually find beef in the dish. The tortilla shell was soggy and quite overwhelming compared to the filling inside.Thankfully the rice was decent. Overall it was disappointing. We may decide to give them another chance however this time will go into the restaurant directly and see if the quality of the food remains the same or is improved. As of right now I have no desire to return anytime soon.
For a small strip mall location in a back neighborhood, Vamos Tacos is going to struggle to stay a float. The pricing of the food is far far out of bounds. $20 for just 4 small tacos Inc tax. The Al Pastor has way to much chipotle seasoning to the point you can taste nothing else. The tortillas are store bought cheap fall apart in your hands version similar to wet tissue paper. The chicken in the tacos was very dry, and very old. This is one place I'd take a pass on!
We were looking for Mexican food for a Cinco de Mayo celebration. We should have kept looking. This place was simply chaotic, with poor quality, overpriced food. The owners barely speak English and I overheard them messing up order after order. Our food lacked flavor, had no spice whatsoever, and a three ounce cup of guacamole cost $8.
This place is awesome. It is a great value and has very tasty, freshly made Mexican food... the only issue is that no one knows it exists because it is hidden from view off any major street. If you want a great sit down Mexican dinner, go to Vamos Tacos.
Decided to check out Vamos Tacos after being frustrated by the serious lack of Mexican cuisine in Winnipeg. I'm no expert on Mexican food authenticity, but I don't think this is it. I ordered the Chicken Taco Salad and bf ordered the Chorizo Enchilada. While the food was not bad, it seriously lacked any sort of flavour profile reminiscent of Mexican food. To start, they brought out chips and salsa. The chips seemed to be freshly made as they were warm, but they didn't seem to have any salt or other seasoning on them so they were rather bland. Additionally, the salsa/pico de gallo was also quite bland. It tasted and looked more like canned crushed tomatoes with very little else in it (i think there was 2 chunks of onion). The Chicken Taco Salad was fine, but not anything to call home about. There wasn't anything Mexican tasting about it, except the tiny bit of cilantro in it, The chicken didn't seem to have any spice in it at all. It came in the typical tortilla bowl, which was good and seemed fresh. BF said the chorizo in the enchilada was good and was spiced better then the chorizo he's had at Burrito Splendido, but the rest of the enchilada was more like a fajita (with chunks of peppers) than other Enchiladas we've had down in the States. He was looking forward to the spicy red sauce that is served over an enchilada, but instead it seemed to be the same bland canned tomato sauce that was used as salsa with the chips. The enchilada also came with a serving of rice, which was the colour of kraft dinner, but wasn't cheesy tasting or even spicy tomato tasting (like a Mexican rice would be) and instead didn't taste like much. After we completed our meals, (bf left most of the rice, as he tries not to eat too much rice, and I left most of the bowl behind b/c I'm watching what i eat these days) the waiter/owner started questioning (drilling) us why we didn't finish, and it was a little ackward, as he didn't seem to understand us anyways. So, overall the food wasn't horrible, but I definitely wouldn't consider it authentic compared to the Mexican we've had in Tucson and Mesa, North Dakota or even the High & Lonesome Cantina.
