Mon Ami Louis - Winnipeg

We had a wonderful evening and Mon Ami Louis! Good was great and service was lovely! Be sure to make a reservation and book early for the best chance at a window table

Starting point, make a reservation, this place is busy and this week was no exception. If they are full ask if they can hold a table when one comes vacant, and they will do that. They have a system that calls you in advance of the table so you can get back. We had to wait an hour. They offered the Patio - we were not interested. It is a small fenced area on the Pedestrian Bridge and not very enticing. Now it may sound like I am starting a bad review. Read on. Their customer service was excellent this time and the time we had to abort a visit as the AC was out. Not many restos will call you to advise they are having trouble, most would like you to get there first. We had a limited meal, I was going to try the soup, but I make that kind regularly - there were a lot of appies that appealed - but we were eating a bit late, and I usually just need an entrée at that time. My wife had the Mediteranean Tart Flambe. Magnificent. Nice balance between the Pesto sauce and seasoned feta. Grilled cherry toms, and artichoke rounded this out. Topped with a scattering of arugula and Balsamic reduction. Very nice. So getting reverse engineered and added to my repertoire at home!I had the Yellowfin Tuna Burger. It might behoove them to better describe this wonderful dish. It is not a burger made with chopped tuna, it is a nicely sized tuna fillet, seared and seasoned to perfection (but by association raw in the middle and cold). To a person who has not eaten Tuna this might seem off. I suspect I could have asked it be cooked through - but why? My only hope is that the fish was Sashimi grade!The burger is served on a Brioche Bun (meh), neither eggy or buttery enough to be good, but no problem as my diet suggests I leave most of the bun. The dish has a bed of 'Asian' coleslaw which was very nice, and a topping of crispy onions and a Wasabi Mayo dressing that was almost non-existent. Les Frites (hate salad) were marvelous - again diet dictates I eat but a few. The location is to die for, the views are spectacular, though some lower level tables sit with back to the window on one side. The Service was abfab. Prices are good. I know it is sacrilege in a French Themed Resto - but try the Little Brown Jug ale off tap!

Cool location, on the bridge. Very good food, I had the lobster ravioli, my husband had the gnocchi, and my brother had the almond encrusted chicken. Dessert was great too! Prices were very reasonable! The waitress was so fun! Very good sport! We would go back again in a flash!

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious meal at Mon Ami Louis. I had the seafood crepe and he had the salmon tarte flambé. Both were great! The views are just superb along the river.

We had relatives in from Calgary and 4 of us wanted to dine out, I chose Mon Ami Louis as my wife and I have talked about going, but this was our first time. All 4 of us LOVED it. The Hostess was funny and super pleasant. Our server Martina S was absolutely amazing and sooooo much fun, loves to talk and VERY personable. What a delight. Our food was incredible, I had the Gnocchi with mushrooms, asparagus and butternut squash and it was to die for. 2 had the lobster ravioli and 1 had the almond crusted flattened chicken. The 3 of them couldn't stop raving about their meals, same as me. Dessert my wife and I each had the lemon meringue tart and the tartness of the lemon was perfect, one had the chocolate cheesecake and one had the caramel crepe. Once again, we all loved it. Our server Martina S was refreshing and bubbly enough to have us already talking about going back again, and with the quality, taste and presentation of the food, it's not if we will go back, it how soon will we return. It won't be long, that's for sure. We found the prices very reasonable too.
