Mitzis Restaurant - Winnipeg

We went for dinner on a Saturday night, it was super quiet in the restaurant, so didn 't have to wait long for service or food. Unfortunately when the food came we asked about the sweet and sour sauce for the amazing chicken fingers, and the...server advised there was an up charge because we had our food already. We said fine thinking it would be .50 cents, on the bill we were charged $5.85 for it, and when we commented on the charge she gave us total attitude about it (basically saying the price is on the menu) Our bill was just under $100, felt it was an unnecessary charge, so it left a very bad taste in our mouths, will likely never go back.

We found the chicken fingers to be soft and moist but did not like the fries. I agree with some others comments that homemade fries would have been much better. The fingers were bland where years ago the fingers were much larger and far tastier....The chicken teryaki was okay.WeI think the fingers at Lee`s on De Vries are much better. They are very busy so at lunch can take 10 minutes or more to pay. We like to be given a bill at our table but this place does not give you one. Service was friendly.

Mitzi's is a great little restaurant in downtown Winnipeg. It is very busy for lunch during the week (especially on Friday's) so get there early or try to get a reservation. A Chicken Finger is usually a pretty simple thing but Mitzi's Chicken Finger's bring...chicken to a new level. Believe me, this place isn't serving McNuggets!!!!! Made with fresh chicken (never frozen) with a light breading that is perfectly seasoned and then deep fried in very clean oil. The homemade Honey Dill Dipping sauce is delectable and all dinners come with fries and coleslaw and these items are well prepared as well. You can order your dinner in incriments of the number of chicken fingers your require: 5, 8 or 11. For me, 5 is always more than enough. And, if the above wasn't enough, they serve you consume soup before your meal an no extra charge. They also have Chinese dishes on the menu, and although I always go with the Chicken Fingers, everything in the place looks good. I certainly wouldn't be afraid to try something different but I love the Chicker Fingers too much! Service is fast, friendly and efficient. Prices are very reasonable and by visiting Mitzi's you are supporting independent restaurant that got better food than any of the chain restaurants and you also have the owner present to make sure things are done right.

My husband and I frequent Mitzi 's when we are on one of our date nights . We have brought others to share in this lovely experience with us. I have never had a bad experience, starting with the hospitality when we first arrive. It is like...going to visit a friend rather than entering a restaurant. Beverages are brought in a timely manner, before your meal arrives, and the coffee is always fresh and delicious. I personally always end up with at least half of my meal packed up to take home. Portion size is huge!! Serving staff has a great sense of humor, and are always friendly. My husband has been going to Mitzi 's for about 35 years. He introduced me to this lovely restaurant. The family that owns the restaurant must be doing something right since there are not a lot of restaurants that have been in business that long. Their chicken fingers and stir fry dishes are always fresh and very flavorful. Their honey dill sauce is absolutely amazing! (I even asked for it in a soup bowl because I couldn 't get enough! There is one thing that I didn 't have the pleasure of experiencing, and I really wish I had. The owner 's brother in law, used to greet guests at the door, wearing a tuxedo, and making sure his guests had everything they needed. My husband knew him, and has told me many times what a wonderful, kind and gentle man he was. I was sad to learn of his passing. As for the restaurant, I recommend it to everyone that asks where to go in Winnipeg. My only wish would be that the had more parking available for disabled persons. Other than that, don 't take my word for it, go and experience this fabulous restaurant for yourself!

Amazing chicken fingers! Had them at a 50th birthday party and everyone was asking who made them. I’ll be visiting the restaurant soon.
