Mercadito Latino - Winnipeg

They have vegetarian options for my favourite food and that makes me really happy! i've eaten from here a few times, so delicious.

Mercadito Latino is a great local, family-run restaurant serving a variety of authentic Salvadorean and Central American meals in Winnipeg's West End. I recently visited here for dinner on July 18, 2020 and have previously eaten here as well. On my most recent visit, I ordered the vegetarian tacos which consisted of corn tortillas filled with refried beans, avocado, and pico de gallo and a side of homemade salsa. They were delicious and satisfying! The menu has other vegan/vegetarian options as well including bean pupusas, corn tamales and other dishes which I was impressed by. The service is friendly and they also have a small store within the restaurant with authentic food products from Central America. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy and it feels like you're eating in the home of a local.

Food was good, but very small portions. Our server, I believe the owner, was not very welcoming. Didn't crack a smile, was hard to get questions answered, dismissed my inquiry about a beer (not licenced (No real atmosphere (music perhaps? .Not my first choice for el Salvador food.

Very good and delicious food, cooked right before serving and affordable prices

I've never had Salvadorian food before but when I asked on a forum for allergen friendly restaurants in Winnipeg, this place was suggested. The yuca frita con chicharron was incredible, and all recognizable ingredients. I had it boiled, just to be safe. It was also AIP compliant! My spouse had the pupusas. Very happy. Restaurant was nice and quiet, no loud music. Owner very friendly.Vegetarian options: A few choices are listed as vegetarian on the menuDietary restrictions: Recipes are simple traditional food prepared really really well,made from whole ingredients, so no concerns about weird fillers.
