Closed for the summer for renos check back in September sampled scallops, lamb shanks, mushroom burger
This is a tiny bistro with limited seating, so a reservation is recommended. We shared the bison spring rolls and the welks, both were very tasty. The lamb shank and the duck breast main courses were equally delicious. The server was very pleasant and efficient. We will make a return visit after the planned renovations.
Situated at the corner of Portage Avenue and Banning Street, this is a small little cafe with a window bench seats and small wooden tables. Dessert display case and kitchen area are within the same room as the tables. Nice fresh flowers on the tables and cloth napkins. Tuesday happened to be wine day so most bottles were $20 which was a great surprise. The faux pate with baguette made a good appetizer and the tartness of the accompanying preserve added to the flavour. The lamb shank was amazingly tender and awesomely flavourful. It was served atop a fabulous parsnip potato purée with a sprig of rosemary. The daily special was a beautifully prepared grilled salmon fillet with a crispy outside and tender flakes. The berry salsa on top was good but it was the slice of melted Brie cheese that finished the flavours. The white rice and accompanying little side salad were unremarkable. Service was efficient.Note: restaurant is closing for renovations as of July 1
We went last week... had to come back again this week. Very French and very good. I definitively recommend. You can even bring your our wine or cork your bottle for a small fee...
