The Windsor Dining - WINDSOR GARDENS

The meals are on the expensive side for a Hotel and the serve is average. The service is okay and the staff are friendly.

We visited for lunch on Thursday before Easter, and found a comfortable table setting to have our lunch. There were only a few guests when we were there.While I left the table for a moment, the waitress cleared all clean plates and cutlery except my husband's from the table before either of us had eaten, for which she apologised to me when the mistake was realised. My 'Salt and Pepper Squid' was heavily coated in a thick layer of crumbs, not what one normally receives with this order at other places. My husband's pasta dish was served without any visual attraction, just a bowl heaped to the brim. There was a food bar for self help, hot vegetables were at the bare minimum, but tasty; salads were plentiful and very tasty. We have good memories of this restaurant, but this time it did not measure up to previous times, we thought.

The staff are really nice, the beer is cold, the dishes are very basic but okay, the prices are okay.... That's all folks!

Have been going to the Windsor occasionally for a meal on and off for about 3 years and never failed to be underwhelmed. I have had possible 2 "good meals" in that time Previously we have had very average overpriced meals, one night waited an hour for our meal in a half full bistro with nothing but lame excuses from the staff. During the week they are very slow replenishing the salad bar so a lot of the time you just get the rubbish in the bottom of the containerLast Saturday we went down with 4 friends (you think we would know by now) ordered our meals 4 of which were steaks and they brought out wrong steaks, wrong sauces and just generally had no excuses or explanation and generally looked like an amateur operation as seen previously. Admittedly they did offer and supply a free dessert for each of us but sorry, not enough for me . I will be taking my hard earned cash to somewhere with decent food and decent service and reasonable prices.Sorry Windsor, aint coming back
