China Star - Windsor

I was really disappointed with my recent takeout from this restaurant. Every dish was overloaded with sugar, including the dumplings, which had a gummy dough and practically no garlic sauce—just a lot of sweetness. The hot and sour soup was also overly sweet; I’ve never encountered a version with sugar before. The portion sizes were small, and the mixed vegetables consisted mainly of Chinese cabbage with just a few pieces of carrot. For $32, this was such a letdown—what a waste!

As for the food, I give it a solid 5 out of 5; it was excellent! However, the service was a bit lacking, earning only a 2. The atmosphere also received a score of 2, as it wasn't particularly inviting. Overall, I'd recommend it for the food if you're looking for a satisfying meal.

The restaurant is a nice, clean, and well-organized establishment. The service was polite, provided by a young man. However, the food was quite mediocre. The wonton soup had little flavor and tasted mostly like water. The lo mein was very dry, although it did have a decent taste. The shrimp and broccoli were acceptable, with well-cooked shrimp, but the brown sauce was overly heavy with ground pepper, which was not a good match. Unfortunately, since it's local, I would prefer to travel to Deposit NY for their Chinese food or to Binghamton NY (the one connected to the Weis on Robinson Street) rather than eat here again.

Not great. It's a local place, so I keep giving it another chance, but the food is just average. They use too much sauce, and it lacks flavor.
