I would not disturb climbing up as there is no clearing to get a beautiful view, as the hill is covered with trees. the rest of the hike is brilliant! they can take a £1 ferry that was every 20min of windere, which was a really convenient option. they can walk to foot, take their bike or car on the ferry.
Lovely views over the water and great bit of history. Small car park, I believe parking was £3 for 2 hours. Very easy climb up to the fortress. We spent around 30-40mins there/exploring the area.
An easy to reach location if you are not physically impaired with a good view over the lake.
Great views and a lovely walk in sunny weather, which it was on Sunday. It's reasonably level but parking is expensive £5 for 2hours, unless you are a member of the National Trust, when it's free. We came over on the ferry, £1 each way for pedestrians, and walked, after picking up a coffee from the cafe Joey's cafe, Claife Station. The walk is very good and people were friendly on the way. Watch out for the odd car, if you walk on the road and unfortunately there are no benches, so either sit on a cut tree or bring one with you. There are a few parking spaces on the way but not a lot. Good place for a picnic, if you bring supplies. We had a great afternoon.
Park in the designated ash landing area and head towards the restaurant from the parking lot. It's a short walk, but it can be steep in some parts. Be cautious as the stone steps leading to the entrance can become wet and slippery when descending. There are plenty of spots to sit and relax on the stone bar at the back, offering a gorgeous view of the lake—a perfect place to unwind and take in the local scenery. The car ferry is the best way to cross the lake from the other side.
