There’s a bar in the back near the kitchen where you can order takeout or enjoy a beer while catching a game, and the dining area also has TVs playing sports. They feature a special night each week when tacos and beers are only about $2 each. Again, the inconsistency is the main point here: while some nights the tacos are outstanding, other times they're merely satisfactory. They've never been bad, just not reliably excellent. That said, this is the only place in town where I've found posole and menudo served on Sundays. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the mood for a Mexican-style greasy spoon diner with great prices on food and drinks.
The restaurant's decor is charming, and I noticed they have a taco special on Wednesdays for just $1! I really hope they keep this deal going, as it will definitely bring us back next Wednesday. I also overheard a customer order a mangonada, which sounded so delicious that I’ll be sure to get one next time. The place was clean, although I didn’t check out the restrooms. The menus were also clean, which has become quite important to me these days.
The food here is amazing, especially the $1 taco Wednesdays. The guacamole is the best I’ve ever tasted! The exterior may not be impressive, but the quality of the food really stands out!
Additionally, I noticed that if you speak Spanish, the service seems much more attentive, while English speakers are largely ignored. It’s frustrating that friendly service depends on your language. Our server never checked on us during the meal. After giving this place too many chances, I’ve decided I won’t be returning. I paid $65 for lunch for two adults and five kids, just for waters and food that was inedible. This experience was embarrassing. There really needs to be someone in town who knows how to make good food. I’m feeling really frustrated with Winchester right now!
The super burrito had a delicious barbecue shredded beef flavor, which I really enjoyed. However, the steak in the fajitas was quite tough, and I was surprised it didn’t come with any lettuce. The meat had a bit of a charred taste, which was okay but unexpected. The chips and salsa were fantastic, and we ended up having multiple servings. I definitely recommend ordering a side of refried beans for dipping the chips!
