Old Florida Seafood House

A reliable favorite. They remain consistent over time, so the quality is always good.

We were both quite disappointed with our experience. While the Cajun fish was fresh, it was simply rubbed down and then baked, which felt underwhelming. The stuffed potato tasted like it had come straight from the freezer. The stone crab claws were fine, but we received a very small portion—just four medium claws—despite the special board indicating we would get three large and two mediums for $39. The French onion soup was good, but the chowder left much to be desired as well.

I've visited this restaurant many times over the past 15 years and have consistently enjoyed their outstanding seafood. I also want to highlight their exceptional martini and the French onion soup, which is absolutely divine. While you can find a decent fish dinner at Catfish Dewey's nearby, nothing compares to the drinks, great service, soups, and salads at Old Florida Seafood. Yes, it is pricier than Catfish Dewey's, but you truly get what you pay for here. Old Florida is an all-around wonderful place to dine; you will never feel awkward bringing friends there, as it always delivers on quality.

It's hard to find a good shrimp au gratin, but Old Florida comes through every time. Add a baked stuffed potato and great creamed spinach to go with a really fresh basket of breads and muffins and you have a feast. Also, try their Shrimp de Jonge or any fresh fish prepared the way you like it: broiled, grilled, blackened, etc. Seasonally you'll find Stone Crabs, Lobsters, and other fresh catches. This isn't the old Lundy's in Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, NY, but dish for dish it brings back many happy memories.

If you're looking for seafood, go no further. This place has it all...and with a rustic decor to boot! Quaint enough for a date, friendly enough for the family.
