Checkers - Wilmington

My burger was cold when served. Fail!! Buns are not toasted either. Ghetto burgers!!

Went and picked up a few things at Wally World , hesitantly, today and on the way out I noticed a Checkers. It hides in the front corner of this Wal-Mart so it 's not very conspicuous. I 'm guessing it had been about 5 years or so since I last ate a Checkerburger and it just sounded good for whatever reason. So, I went for it. No other patrons were inside at the time and the ordering station was wide open. After examining the menu for a moment, I ordered the 2 for $5 Checkerburger deal with added cheese for $0.49 each. It took about 7 minutes for the staff line to finish them up but the service provided by the bi-lingual staff member was very good. After going through the 7 minute wait, I just knew these burgers would come out hot and as fresh as a Checkers burger could ever be. However, I was wrong. The flavor and fresh veggies were nice but the beef patties were both barely lukewarm. As you can see in the pic, the slice of cheese never began to melt until I stuck it up on my dashboard to take a pic, at which time the greenhouse effect from the sunlight caused it to wilt a little over the side. Flavor was there, veggies were crisp but a 7 minute wait for cold patties and unmelted cheese were the drawbacks. An average experience for an average fast food burger joint. If these burgers would have been piping hot with melted gooey cheese, this could have scored significantly higher. SCORE: 3 STARS!!

Nice people! Good food--especially chicken nuggets and funnel cake fries!

Try the new chicken sandwich with squat sauce. It's like the sauce they put on in between burgers from Hardee's years ago very good.

They serve fries with a unique flavor that stands out. Food: 5/5.
