Contribuiți la feedbackThis was an average American restaurant. The chicken wings were the smokiest and salty wings I have ever had. Brussel sprouts were brussel sprouts, nothing exciting. Dining partner had the stir fry and it was exceptionally sweet. Server was good and offered to take certain veggies out is stir fry and brought me more sauce.
Total 5!!! We dined in a party of three, and this place just blew our socks off! We started with the artichoke dip, which was outstanding! We moved on to our entrees of Steak Sandwich, Burger, and for myself the Five Cheese MAC and Cheese! All of our dishes came out perfect. Some Mac and Cheese can come out kinda dry, not at Nicks! It was so good!! Tip! On the menu you will notice that one of the five cheeses is ghost pepper--do not like that deter you! You can ask for that portion of the cheese mixture to be mild--and it came out great! The space was really laid back and chill! I felt very comfortable inside, and look forward to returning! Our server Sam! What a great guy he is! Very attentive, and truly made us feel at home! I hope that when we come back, we have Sam as our server again! Top notch!!! Thank you Nicks for making our Saturday evening great!
I was helping out my family's store at Wilmette Summerfest and as much as I love street food I was craving something a bit healthier. I ended up ordering pick up from Nicks since it's directly across the street from my family's store). I ordered the Thai salad with grilled chicken and a side order of fries with ranch. The Thai salad was SO GOOD!!! It was perfectly crispy, crunchy and flavorful. I loved the dressing as well. It was not too sweet and had a nice hint of sour I personally like things a bit more spicier) but the dressing was on point. I also loved the fries. They were not soggy by the time I got around to them and perfectly seasoned.
I came here for brunch and it was the best I 've had in the downtown Wilmette area. The menu was super varied, so I rocked sweet, while the hubs rocked savory. We were both happy, but there 's another reason I keep coming back. That magical thing is their Sao Paulo Steak Sandwich. And Nick 's, don 't be mad at me, but...it reminds me of the steak fajita sandwich I used to rock at the Chi Chi 's at Golf Mill Mall like 25 years ago, except it 's actually quality ingredients, and all grown up w/ the addition of plantains and arugula. The bread is perfect fresh and soft, the steak is always perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the toppings just work. I rock this baby at least once a week as my cheat meal, it 's that good. Also, their mac 'n cheese is on point, and the hubs is always happy with his create your burger masterpieces. Go now!
Seems like the kind of place that should reliably please all types--if you keep your expectations modest. Everyone here tries really hard, and the customer service is good all around. They take reservations and are baby-friendly. But I 've had two disappointing meals. The funny thing is that appetizers, drinks, and desserts are solid, but the mains are the weak link. They have the kind of menu which makes me say Hmm, yeah, I could go for that tonight about at least half the items. Everything sounds really enticing and I look forward to this stuff hitting the spot...but I keep making the wrong choices, I guess. Last year on my first visit, they brought me the wrong sandwich, but I didn 't complain because the two were similar. It was disappointing and I regretted not getting my second choice, an entree salad. This time, I got a salad--thai--which was even more bland and boring than the sandwich had been. Fresh and crisp, sure, but no flavor whatsoever. To be fair, I have to say that I did like my wife 's halibut with taboule. I have to say that the best thing going at Nick 's is the jumbo pretzel appetizer with beer cheese. Sign me up for that again. I 'm sure that I 'll be back sooner or later, and maybe then I will stick with the more bar grill type fare that others seem to enjoy--burgers, macaroni cheese, et al.
