Off the Pier - Fish and Chippery

We ordered a portion of fish & chips just before catching the ferry at $10. Quickly cooked, large portion and very enjoyable.

Nice cold sunny day, and as a friend had told us bout this place we meandered along and tried the fish of the day the Barramundi. Was fresh, lightly cooked fell apart in the hand and the batter so light and thin. Just the best and eating it in the waterfront park added to it. Don't go to the restaurants along the street - head for this place!!

Have tried a few establishments in Williamstown, and this one was not bad for fish and chips. Sunday around midday, service was fast but the music piped outside was a bit loud and peppy for a relaxing Sunday morning...but I suppose it turns their tables over faster as the music does not encourage lingering...The chips were fantastic and the frozen variety rather than homemade. The fish was good and thick but a little on the greasy side. Not the best and not the worst I have had. Pleasant location adjacent to the park and visitor centre, rather than across the busy road from the Port like most of the restaurants here. Really just a take away with a few tables outside and some plastic cutlery on the counter. Do not feed and encourage the seagulls or sparrows or your meal will be ruined by aggressive birds...

What an excellent way to finish our Melbourne weekend with dear friends than to sit by the water at Williamstown pier and have fish and chips before we headed to Tullarmarine Airport to fly back to home and the Gold coast. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and the visit to the area that was a beehive of activity. Vintage Fords lined the footpaths, families enjoying the huge range of cafes, restaurants and ice cream shoppes. A perfect ending to a perfect weekend
