This place is decent enough. Try to get in early because you will have to wait a loooong time if you don't. The food is nice, especially the shao mai and the mango pudding.
One of my go to places to have yum cha when I’m in the city area. This place is popular with the locals probably due to the fact that it’s cheaper with tasty food. My favourites are the prawn dumplings, siew mai, rice noodle rolls with prawn/youtiao and the liu sha bao. Service is friendly and prompt though sometimes rather pushy as they try to offload more food on your table
My beautiful cousin who now lives in Melbourne came over for a holiday recently to celebrate turning fort-… I mean… 20 (twice). We had a family dinner here which consisted of 30+ people spread over 3 tables. Food came out in no particular order and wasn’t timed (1 table would get a couple of dishes while the other tables had to wait some time). It was a bit chaotic to be honest. But at least the food was nice. I particularly loved the crispy skin almond chicken with prawn paste which is a dish we order on special occasions. It’s quite a labor intensive dish and therefore a bit pricey but soooooo worth it. Other dishes we ordered (I couldn’t take photos because everyone on my table was so hungry) were: honey chicken, garlic prawns, salt and pepper spare rib, birds nest, fried rice and a few others. Overall it was a decent experience. I have been here a few times before, a couple years ago now, for weddings as well as dim sum. My family used to eat here back in the day when the place was called Chau’s Teahouse. I have also been back for dim sum since it has been changed to Northbridge Chinese Restaurant and the dim sum here is really nice (I will need to write a blog for it when I come next time).
Without being spectacular, still one of the better dimsum places around Perth at the moment. Thank goodness Perthies are blessed with great dimsum.<br/ <br/ Would suggest the har gao, siu mai, fong zhou, spare ribs and soup dumplings (all pictured below) which are staple normal dimsum orders. <br/ <br/ Found the taste to be well balanced which a few places miss the mark. Not overly salty that is and the sweeter dishes are overly sweet either. These guys seems to know what they are doing.<br/ <br/ I’d come back again for sure.
