Possibly the best village pub I have ever visited....cracking food, super comfortable rooms....and especially the most friendly and hospitable renter, with a tasty community of local as well. if they make the coast to the coast, one must stay. aim to be there on Thursday for the quiz.

A nice friendly pub in the village with a good beer selection as well as very tempting meals. big after a local walk or at the end of the hadrian’s wall!

When I was in bowness on solway overnight, I went here from maryport to start the official hadrians wallweg. the personal was nice and the eating was really good (only massive portions,) I had a steak ale pipe that came with veg and chips plus an extra gravy boot filled with more cake filling it was all really good value for money and a great place to start (or finish) the hadrian’s wall away.

Very nice staff and super cute dog. We were there for the Hadrian's wall path. Good food and really fast service. We were lucky and also enjoyed folks singing and playing the guitar. Cozy room and clean.
