Contribuiți la feedbackIts at Greenslate Farm read my review on that for more but the cafe was very good, chilled, well turned out with a big covered deck to sit and gaze at the countryside all around you. does not feel like part of wigan. One of those places. Had a nice lunch, coffee. cake looks dangerously good. Nice energy about the place.
After a brief tour of the farm, we decided to support the business by purchasing some hot snacks and drinks. When we entered the restaurant, all of the indoor tables were either occupied or had not been cleared. Since it was cold outside, we cleared one of the tables ourselves. After placing our order, I noticed that my 3-year-old grandson's hands were dirty, even though I had sanitized them before entering. I used wet wipes to clean the table in front of him and discovered the source of the mess. Unfortunately, when our drinks arrived, the order was incorrect, and we found a dirty knife in the cutlery holder when our food was served. Despite requesting ketchup, our meals were getting cold as we waited for it. The delay in serving the condiment from a large bottle could have been avoided if we were asked if we wanted it when ordering. On the positive side, the triple-cooked chips were delicious. It is possible that the issues we experienced were due to the restaurant being exceptionally busy on a Friday at the end of half-term week, on the nicest day of the week. However, the fact that tables remained uncleared when there were no customers needing service suggests otherwise. It is regrettable that we overheard other guests also complaining about slow service, and like us, they may choose to dine elsewhere on future visits.
We booked the Strawbale Café for our karate club Christmas party and they provided catering services. The food was excellent, with a hotpot, sandwiches, pies, sausage rolls, mince pies, and chocolate cake on offer. Everything was freshly made and delicious. They were able to accommodate vegetarians and vegans, although we did not require this option. We could customize the menu to our liking, swapping out items we didn't want for ones we preferred. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we would gladly book with them again. They were open to feedback on how they could improve. They even obtained a license so we could have a bar at the event. It was a fantastic evening, thanks to Ian and the staff. We look forward to seeing them in the new year and wish them a Merry Christmas. - Linsey and Richard
What a lovely cafe hidden on a community farm. Staff are amazing and so welcoming. And the menu is great. Not too many items which show everything is made fresh to order. Lots of Homemade cakes to choose from. I had the full breakfast which I couldn’t fault, everything you could want all served piping hot, which came with 2 slices of toast and butter. An absolute bargain for less than £9. Latte was hot and a really nice tasting coffee. I will be returning time after time. You won’t be disappointed
After being recommended by friends, we visited this restaurant for the first time. It is tucked away but only a short 3 or 4 minute drive from the main road. The setting is lovely, very clean, and lively. They offer a diverse menu with something for everyone, all freshly prepared. The breakfast options are particularly impressive. There are a variety of animals outside that children will enjoy, but be prepared for muddy paths so wear your wellies. Additionally, there are plenty of hand washing sinks available for after your visit.
