Spire - Whitehorse

I did not like your restaurant manager I think his name was Anthony it was on Sunday 14th. Maybe next time he could afford a smile he let the whole hotel down. He shouldn't do a job like that if he can't smile.

We ate 3 nights here, AMAZING... Every single meal was of high quality.. The staff are so friendly and fun, but still keeping it professional.located at the Mantra Southbank where we were staying, was even better! We will be back !!

We were staying in Mantra so decided to have breakfast on our last morning. Everything looked delicious, however I was wrong. All of the hot options were stone cold which didn't make sense because all of the hot plates were turned on, the vanilla yoghurt tasted sour and for the price, I couldn't believe what we were served. After complaining to the staff at the front of the restaurant, they didn't seem to care so we complained to the hotel which actually made a difference.

This restaurant deserves to be recommended. I have eaten there several times as a Mantra hotel guest over the years for breakfast and dinner, and have also had room service. I've never been disappointed. The staff are very friendly and work hard. The menu and the wine list always hits the mark for a hungry traveller. On my most recent visit last week, I was not staying at the Mantra but I still chose to come to the Spire Restaurant for a beautiful steak, quicker service and a quieter atmosphere than all the other restaurants along the Southbank/Southgate walk on a Saturday night. There was a little hitch with the burger my daughter ordered but the staff responded very well and we were completely satisfied. I'll be coming back on my next trip to Melbourne.

We ate at Spire 2 nights in a row while in Melbourne for a concert. We were staying at the Mantra.The first night was to have a light meal before we walked to the concert. We ordered a pizza and a salad to share. Both were delicious and the friendly waiter offered prompt service. The second night we were too tired to go out so decided to have another meal there. This time we ordered a different main but had the salad again. This time the salad was so heavy on the parmesan cheese there was no other flavour. The restaurant wasn't that busy but it took ages to get the drinks we had ordered. The final letdown was at about 820pm when I ordered a coffee only to be told that they had already cleaned the coffee machine and so coffee wasn't available. For a Saturday night in Melbourne it seemed ludicrous that they had already switched the machine off while people were still eating in the restaurant. When we went to pay and the waiter asked about the meal, we mentioned the salad was a disappointment, we just got an 'Oh, I'll let the chef know", I also felt that in the interest of good customer relations they could have offered to provide a coffee the next morning or another time. Our stay at the Mantra was fantastic (see hotel review) but won't eat at Spire again when we revisit Melbourne.
