Buffet Hut - Whitehorse

I had this on my list of restaurants to try for a couple of months. I finally decided to give it a go based on the quite positive reviews on here.As is usually the case in Indian restaurants, the staff at Buffet Hut are friendly and willing to please. The restuarant is clean and tidy and quite pleasing to the eye.The food I had was quite tasty and delicious. However, it was barely lukewarm. I'm guessing that they aren't preheating their bain marie; just putting hot food into cold bain marie then turning it on is going to cool it down very quickly.It was probably also the smallest buffet I've ever been to. I don't know where all the variety is that other reviews spoke of. We didn't see many of the things that I've seen other reviewers mention.No drinks order was taken at all. We had to go and ask. Water wasn't offered. Also had to ask for that. Self serve water from a water fountain? yeah, I think they could do better than that. The dessert selection was extremely poorI'd say that the lovely people who run this restaurant just need to gain more experience and perhaps pay a bit more attention to table service and make the food hot. Would I eat there again? Probably not

My family and I, (2 children and wife), visited the Buffet Hut as we are really wanting an Indian fix! The price was pretty decent and they gave us a 10% discount as they had just opened a few months earlier. Although the value was good for a buffet, as my 5 year old is limited on spice, he could really only eat rice and naan and veggies. My older son and I were able to utilise the full buffet but my wife who is a vegetarian struggled as there was only 2 options for her. So despite the discount and really proactive and good service, I would suggest they need to improve the offering. Perhaps it was because there weren't many people there so a limited menu was offered. Overall I would suggest this place is best suited to a "post drinks" bite with your mates. I wouldn't suggest it for a romantic evening or for persons with restricted diets.

The owners and staff are all very friendly. The food is delicious: from the samosas, the various meat and vegetable curries as well as the generous portions of naan bread. The different flavours and varying levels of spice are excellent. Do not judge this restaurant however by its décor, it is very basic and water is self service in polystyrene cups! At least you know the cups are clean!

I discovered this restaurant through GROUPON and got a special deal. I requested if I could pick up this deal as a take away as when looking at the restaurants website I thought the place didn't look very nice for eating in. When I arrived for pick up I was surprised at how much nicer the place looked than on the website photos. Shere (sorry not sure of spelling) the young owner seemed genuine, polite and very friendly. The lady staff member (his mum?) was also very nice. They were happy to swap the wine in the deal for lassi at my request.At the moment they have a buffet dinner meal special for $14 which looks good.As a vegetarian I only tasted the vegetarian food including vegetable korma and saag paneer.My dad said the meat in his curry was good. I loved the food and hope to go there again next time I am in Melbourne.

Delicious food in a new, fresh and clean restaurant. We visited here last night and were very pleased with the variety of delicious curries and breads available at the buffet here. The food was also kept nice and hot in the modern, heated and covered trays. The only thing preventing this restaurant achieving a full 5 stars, was the limited range of desserts on offer. Apart from that, everything else was great and we will definitely be returning here. Delicious!
